Binance allegedly increased its US presence despite publicly stating its intent to “block” or “restrict” US customers. The CFTC cited private messages and company documents, some of which have gained meme status within the crypto community. Binance's attempts at compliance have been criticized, with one Twitter personality joking that they should have better communication channels to "reduce the fraud friction."
